roots

tree by the dairy

A study of a tree in pencil, with the ever present grounding wall.

Drawing on inner reserves

Goose Creek flow

Winter wonderland, my foot!

So far, just a dusting of snow, but still such a bleak landscape much of the time (aside from dawn and dusk psychedelic skies) ... now back to the black and white and tonal work (with occasional  episodes of color)... going with the flow.

Things flow slowly in the wintertime (see below... dog flowing slowly, in sleep, over the chair; water flowing slowly, iced over;  Swiss Brown flowing slowly, walking the pasture.
Artist, flowing slowly, very slowly and mindfully, ingesting it all, and letting the state of flow happen.
How long did it take to paint a painting?
Years. Years of looking, drawing, learning.
So blessed to have an opportunity to do what the heart and spirit ask at this time.

Reflections

January 21, 2013 Reflection of the dawn sky

Reflecting on life - past and present reflections will be posted for a few days:
the sky in a small puddle or the intense cobalt glow of normally murky brown water, or strong vertical lines and rhythms dancing as they reflect the towering tree trunks surrounding a temporary pool of rainwater... a reflection on temporary and fleeting visions.

Wet and Wild

1/15/2013 Sopping, Soggy, Slippery, Mulchy

Soggy, chilly morning,
very late bus, so I drove my daughter to school, fortunately, otherwise I would have missed the regal bald eagle perched high in a tree on my way home.
Posting a few photos of him. I have no telephoto, so they're not very clear.
Also posting a few other soggy morning pictures - you can almost smell the moss and wet leaves.
